The Town of Erin, Wisconsin

The Town of Erin, Wisconsin

The quaint town of Erin is nestled in the gorgeous Kettle Moraine Forest. The area is beautiful year round, but it is especially breathtaking in the autumn when the leaves turn -- first golden, then crimson. At the top of Holy Hill, the Milwaukee skyline can be seen in the distance as it is about 45 minutes away. Erin provides rural charm without giving up the amenities available in nearby cities.

Erin gets its name from the Irish immigrants who settled the area. They were so homesick for their motherland that they decided to call the place Erin, a poetic name for Ireland. Holding tightly to its roots, the town is filled with historical buildings, especially in the downtown region. One of the oldest buildings is St. Patrick's Church on Highway 83 which held its' first service in 1842 and is still used for special Masses today.

The town also celebrates its heritage with events and festivals throughout the year. There is always something to do in Erin. Its location in the Kettle Moraine region means that hiking, camping and biking are always a possibility. There are also several lakes and rivers in town that are used for fishing and swimming, including Beck Lake, Druid Lake, Malloy Lake, Murphy Lake, and McConville Lake. Erin Hills Golf Course provides residents with a stunning, natural design which has led the course to host the 2011 US Amateur Open and, in 2017, to be the first Wisconsin golf course to host the prestigious US Open.

Students can take advantage of small classroom size at Erin School. Approximately 350 students are enrolled in the local school system and student-to-teacher classroom ratios are 14-to-1. Even though there are no colleges or universities in Erin, several are located nearby including University of Wisconsin-Washington County, Moraine Park Technical College and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

The economy in Erin supports many industries including manufacturing, construction, professional and scientific, and health services. Both Aurora Medical Center Washington County in Hartford and St. Joseph's Hospital in West Bend provide residents with exceptional medical facilities and healthcare.
